Dust and surface cleaners
Dust is attracted by static electricity. Whenever there is static electricity or a static charge present, dust(small particles) from the surrounding area will be attracted. Sometimes dust from many meters around the charged object will move(with aid of some turbulence in the air) towards the static charged material or object. In many cases this is problematic since dust is unwanted in many critical production processes because it contaminates the product. Also dust on surfaces of objects do not appear clean but dirty and therefor lack a quality finish. Cleaning with conventional materials is not always an option and also in many occasions conventional cleaning methods do not work properly when static electricity is the cause of the attraction of the dust. The attraction of dust provides for many problems in the print industry but also in other processses like injection moulding, bag making, sheeting and slitting. The best way to go forward to tackle the problem is to use dust removal equipment.
Anti Static Air Knife
A Simco-Ion anti-static bar with airknife combines the effects of air amplification and ionisation to produce a high-velocity “sheet” or an air-curtain of ionised air (amplification ratio as high as 25:1). This combined effect is used to neuatralise the static that “holds” or makes the particles “cling” to the surface that you want to clean.
Typhoon
Typhoon blower driven airknives eliminate static and removes particulate from flat or contoured surfaces. Typhoon incorporates a blower with an airknife and can be configured for multiple solutions and industries. This system provides a continuous stream of clean ionised air for removal of surface particulate and contamination.
How do dust-cleaners and particle-cleaners look like?
There is a large variety of dust- and particle cleaners like ionising air blowers or an air-knife to provide an ionised air-curtain against dust. Anti dust cleaners are also called anti static cleaners since the principle is similar, ionised air will be used to blow of dust or ionised air is used to detach the particles before being vacuumed of the surface. Selecting the right dust remover
Selecting the right dust remover from a large range of air-knifes, ionising air blowers or anti static cleaners and guns is not an easy job. It requires a lot of knowledge on the application but also on the properties of the different types of dust cleaners. To improve your cleaning results or to solve the problems in the print industry or any other industry where dust attraction is a problem it is better to ask your local consultant for free advice and support.
